1. The harsh winter weather had inured the residents of the small town to cold temperatures and snowfall. They were accustomed to the biting winds and heavy snow, and they knew how to dress and prepare for it. They had warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots, and they knew how to shovel their driveways and sidewalks to keep them clear.
